Overheard at the corner store while picking up milk this morning: “Sure, I’ll take a receipt. If the President can expense all that he does, then I figure I can expense a few coffees for the crew.”

Something electrical just blew with a big flash not too far south of me. Good storm we're having.

Thank you for this award – it is work that is done by our entire 200+ @seattleflustudy team - not by any one individual. It has been an extraordinary time for science, academia, and public health and I am glad that our team has played a small part in this moment in history. 1/n
Huge congratulations to infectious disease physician @HelenChuMD for being named Washingtonian of the year by Lt. Gov. @cyrushabib. Chu is credited as the first physician to identify community spread of the novel coronavirus in the USA. @UWMedicine bit.ly/3nyVK9C

A great example of why software patents are terrible. The real novel invention is the implementation, which is already covered by copyright, not the idea. The ideas here are not novel, but now a defense contractor can throw their weight around in court.
Thrilled to announce that I was awarded patent# 10,872,388 with @mmirabito for work @northropgrumman—our 2nd invention for the global disease surveillance platform, and corresponding system and method with a new set of claims granted in full by @uspto patents.google.com/patent/US…

My position remains the same: complaints of "cancel culture" tend to imagine some people's free expression as superior to others. This is a perfect example.
