@dhh and @rafaelfranca recently announced that the Rails core team has switched the default project branch from "master" to "main." I think this is awesome. Predictably, a bunch of white tech bros disagree. Their replies generally fall into a few categories:

For all of you dudes that are asking why change this because you don’t know 1 person that got offended by this, let me just say this: I made this change, it does offend me, as non-white, decedent of slaves, born in a country that was the last western country to abolish slavery.
Default branch for Rails is now main instead of master ✌️

I literally have the most commits in that branch, in all others, so I have the right of calling it whatever I want. If you don’t like, make more contributions than me and then we can talk.

Ah, almost forgot. I released Rails 6.1.1 today with a few bug fixes. The blog post with links to the changelogs is up. Tomorrow I’ll post in the official account. No release candidates this time because you and I know that you don’t try them anyway 😂

Since I started my vacations in early December, I made 142 commits to Rails. What I didn’t anticipate is that I’d spend my first week back making our app work with all those changes.

The good news is that I already fixed 3 bugs that would impact most of you and you don’t need to care anymore.
