I spent a lot of time working on @stayinsession. In three months, I've (re)learned about: - Server side auth - Error handling - Postgres + db modelling - ORM is 👎 - Typed language is 👍 - Handle IAP - SwiftUI - Swift - Event sourcing - Hybrid logical clock - CRDT

Ever since Session hit 100 review marks on App Store, the impression went 📈. Looks like the algorithm is switched on logarithmically (10 reviews, 100 reviews). For comparison, the December impression was 18K, November 5K, and so on. Now it's 366K and January hasn't ended yet.

Next update: white noise. Fun UX: only active device (last one interacted) played the audio.

I'll be completely vulnerable: this is a terrible retention rate. I'm at loss right now and been thinking hard about this. Or the daily sample size is too small? What I'm trying to do for the next update: - Unlock some feature for free - Increase the free trial duration 🧵👇

Looking at the data, the 1-day retention rate is so bad. My hypothesis is users haven't seen the value of using the product. So should I focus on education + onboarding? This January I wanted to focus on marketing, but the effort will be wasted as the retention rate is abysmal.

Successfully integrated Session to Apple calendar! It's one-way sync—Session is still the source of truth. Took me one—40 minute Session to implement this; thanks to Apple's EventKit. It will take another 8 hours++ though to iron out most edge cases 😂

This way users can visualize how their day would look with minimal commitment. Also, it encourages one to manage their expectation correctly as time went by. Example: task should finish in 20min: reality 3 hours.
