It's also battle tested (i.e. was in place before the Microsoft acquisition and while I'm no lawyer I know from experience that they have very good ones)

I always made sure that the IP rights of the work I am doing outside working hours are contractually mine!

I’ve checked this with every job but it seems weird that a company has any legal basis to make a claim on things not happening on company time
