Bought a 128Gb Surface Laptop Go for my wife. How things have changed. Almost anticlimactically easy to set up. Log in with Microsoft ID, and all there - passwords synced with Edge and files in OneDrive. Things work great if you live in that universe - great build quality also.
She's running in Windows S mode and TBH she'll probably stick with it that way. Basically only uses for browser plus office apps. Everything she needed was pre-installed. Picked up her Office 365 subscription and auto-activated etc.
Meanwhile I'm keeping my wheezing 2017 Macbook Pro on life support hoping the M1X Macbooks come out soon and the M1 chips will be a supported configuration for corp IT by the time they do.

The IP / Moonlighting policies of most companies were conceived in the 1990's and do not hold up to todays world of flexible hours, remote work and BYOD. @GitHub's IP agreement is the first I've seen written for today. And of course, it is open source: github.com/github/balanced-eβ¦
It's also battle tested (i.e. was in place before the Microsoft acquisition and while I'm no lawyer I know from experience that they have very good ones)
