agriculture has been called "the worst mistake in human history" because farmers had worse diets, much less free time and less egalitarian social dynamics than nomadic societies so yeah
some goober in mesopotamia invented agriculture and now I have to have a credit score, how is that fair

not an anprim but if hunter gatherer societies only worked 10-20 hours a week to survive, and we're doing double despite all our technological advances, you really gotta wonder who in society is reaping the benefits of technological efficiency and why isnt it us

I'm not saying "technology and medicine bad" lol I'm saying that thousands of years of progress could have liberated us and created societies where we work so much less for so much more instead of fueling a rich elite

But without the agricultural revolution we would have missed out on the joys of coding. Clearly, looking for a misplaced apostrophe all day is more fun than looking for berries.

well, it depends, we oughta remember that laws of species evolution don't care for things like happiness, only proliferation, and farming was definitely a much better proliferation strategy we can dream about how the wheel of time coulda stopped but really it was inevitable

I was first introduced to some of these ideas in "Ishmael" by Daniel Quinn, and I highly recommend that to anyone who isn't familiar already.

As someone who pretends to be a farmer I can confirm that free time is virtually non existent
