I will never not be furious that the Twitter outrage machine forcibly outed a closeted trans woman because she wrote a science fiction story with a provocative title
if you think that any of the harassment that Isabel Fall received over her story, or more frequently just the fucking title "I Sexually Identify as an Attack Helicopter" is at all justified, your general opinions on art, especially difficult or transgressive art, are worthless.
And this isn't about the story being good or not - all the people I know who really, really hated the story all expressed their shock and disgust at the eventual doxxing because I choose my friends based on who understands priorities and kindness
A lot of people have been abused and punished for being who they are, then merge into groups of other people like them, and feel more powerful, and then go "ah it's my turn bullying YOU people now (but I'll be good because it's me and I deserve it)". Bullying is not good, ever
Again because of the "outrage sliding" thing I clearly remember having an argument with someone on here who accused the attack helicopter story of "being child porn", which just goes to show how important it is to get your outrage from primary sources
