people have always held this weird ideal that science >>> arts because it’s more useful (and other bs) and in the last few months it’s become evidently clear that while medicine/tech has been making strides in healing people, what’s helped us all get through are the arts
i’m absolutely not de-valuing the sciences because that’s the reason so many us are alive right now in the midst of a deadly pandemic, but the reason we’ve all been holding on is because of the arts. and we need to give credit where it’s due.
while netflix and amazon prime is tech, they are nothing but messengers which provide us with movies and tv shows which have been what most of us relied on for entertainment during the lockdowns
I lived completely alone for 100+ days and didn’t meet a single human being, but I got through it solely because of the arts. so the next time someone says they want to become a singer or an artist, don’t judge them. they are equally valuable.
