Sending you so much love, @BerniceKing. Thank you for sharing your father with us. That he was so brutally taken from you and your family is a stain on this nation that can’t be whitewashed, no matter how hard they try.
Please don’t act like everyone loved my father. He was assassinated. A 1967 poll reflected that he was one of the most hated men in America. Most hated. Many who quote him now and evoke him to deter justice today would likely hate, and may already hate, the authentic King. #MLK

the united states has convinced do many people that MLK day is a day of service. MLK wasn't interested in "service," he was interested in the redistribution of wealth to render poverty obsolete. Less service, more redistribution

Today we honor the legacy of the late Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In 1958, #MLK wrote to John Lewis, requesting that Lewis visit him in Montgomery, Alabama, a meeting which marked the beginning of their historic partnership. #blackhistory #history #civilrights

I sat in the back seat… I was just crying… He said, ‘Child, what's wrong with you?’ & I told him what had happened & to this day, I will never forget. He said, ‘Child, if that's the worst thing that's going to ever happen to you, you are a blessed child.’" #MLK

"These little skinny girls decided to make fun of me, & they pulled a chair out from up under me. And fortunately… I wasn't seriously hurt, but my feelings were hurt more. So Yoki & I after class were outside waiting on our ride & here drives up Dr. King in a big black car" #MLK

While Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is most well known for his role as a minister and leader of the #CivilRights movement, he was also a devoted and loving #father who sought to instill strength in his young children and their friends. #MLK #blackhistory #history

"The general of the Alabama National Guard came in, took over the meeting & said ‘No one can leave.’ It was a very dangerous situation... And about 3 or 4 o'clock [a.m.] that Monday morning, they placed us all in jeeps and we left in a long motorcade.”
