Cautionary note when looking at vaccine data for NHS regions in England: their boundaries are sometimes different from what the names suggest. The biggest difference is "North East & Yorkshire", which extends to North Cumbria and part of Nottinghamshire, but excludes Bentham.

The size of the "increasing" arrows maxes out at +500 cases per 100k population. The uniformity of the arrows in e.g. Merseyside and IoW shows that almost all MSOAs had weekly increases above +500 ☹️ In hindsight the max arrow length should have been higher than +500 this week.

COVID-19 rates rose in two-thirds of England's small areas in the week to 6th Jan. But some falls in London/SE. On this map, each arrow is an MSOA with a population of 7-10k. Green shows a fall since last week and purple shows a rise. Larger arrows show bigger rises/falls. 1/

And here's the latest cartogram showing which small areas of England and Wales had the highest COVID-19 case rates in the week ending 6th January. Each hexagon⬢ represents an MSOA with a population of around 7k-10k. Areas are grouped into counties etc. 2/

Yes - was looking at adding upload speeds too. They are much lower on average, but they also vary a lot less between MSOAs, with the vast majority between 10 and 14 Mbps. I expect there's more variation in the finer-grained output area and postcode data.

A quarter of UK premises now have access to gigabit broadband, but this is unevenly distributed. This cartogram shows which small areas of England and Wales already have gigabit broadband availability. Each hexagon⬢ represents an MSOA with a population of around 7k-10k.

Here's the corresponding map of average download speed, showing the speeds that lines are actually receiving. Note that this data is from June 2020 while the coverage data is from September 2020.

For this it could be useful to look at performance data as well as coverage. Here's the map for average download speeds actually being received.
