"Yesterday I worked on story 1254. I'll keep doing that today. I'm not blocked." How exactly does that help "inspect progress toward the Sprint Goal and adapt the Sprint Backlog as necessary, adjusting the upcoming planned work" as specified in the Scrum Guide?

I think my biggest issue with the 3-questions standup formula is that you can do it perfectly, and still do nothing to actually plan the current day. It's just a bunch of individuals announcing stuff. No teamwork. No planning in sight. The POINT of the standup is to plan!

Re the "3 questions" format for standups: Why is formula somehow better than a simple conversation? What's so wrong with the team's communication ability that a formal process is needed for simple communication? Why don't you work on that instead of using a bandaid formula?

A "retrospective" is best treated as an ongoing activity, not a meeting. Take an Andon-cord approach. When something goes wrong, stop and come up with a way to make sure that won't happen again. Do it immediately, not two weeks from now at some meeting.
