"We have absolutely no plans for a vaccine passport" Zahawi tells the committee. First because we don't know what vax do to transmission and second it would be discriminatory: people choose to take up the vax offer, it's not compulsory and some people can't have it.

For the UK, priority in the first phase was the prioritisation of saving of lives. So the groupings are those at risk of dying. This doesn't mean that essential workers are not included, Prof Lim adds, they'll be included in the first phase if they're in those priority groups.

He adds the JCVI has not decided how to prioritise the different groups in the second phase of the rollout (those aged under 50 without particular underlying health conditions). Essential workers may well be bumped up the priority list in that second phase, Prof Lim says.
