Thanks for spreading the love of VisiData!
It was super fun to get to be on @pythonbytes with @brianokken and @mkennedy! 🐍 I loved getting to talk about a favorite tool of mine, @visidata, share some updates on tools from the Scikit-HEP project, and talk about testing infrastructure that borrows from Monty Python jokes.

v2.-4 is shipped! visidata.org/v2.x We re-integrated vls into core VisiData, added an increment and unfurl command, made CLI options more tunable, polished fmtstr and did lots and lots of bug fixes. v2.0 is in sight. 🗻

VisiData 2.0 is really coming along. We added @jsvine's `unfurl-col` command, which is like an instant self-join with a column of list or dict. Very useful for nested data in e.g. JSON, and a nice row-wise complement to `expand-col`. Unbound for now; maybe zM as a focused melt?

For reference, here is what the column-wise `expand-col` looks like.

There are two main ways table data can be organized: ▮ column-major ▬ row-major Row-major keeps each row together, whereas column-major keeps each column together. The architecture you choose has implications on all data operations.
