Self-reminder: rebind my caps-lock key to "No, I will not set a hardcoded size in pixels for this field just because you measured it on your screen. People have different settings and different screens." as it is a sentence I use once a day every day of my career 😩

we've seen this pattern before at Google. White supremacists report vulnerable people who push back against them to HR, claiming they're uncivil, setting up a paper trail for eventual retaliation.

Printed and e-book versions of C++ Best Practices are now available! There are 3 different ways to buy it, so keep reading! (I make approx the same royalty regardless of how you buy the book.) The printed version is 144 pages, I set the price to reflect the length. 👇👇👇👇👇

People ask me how they can win against the harassment they experience. First of all, you are the victim not the perpetrator, why should you solve the problem? Secondly, totally get the feeling. Thirdly, none of my harassers EVER experienced ANY consequences.
Consider every anonymized story I tell about my experience in tech to be a massive set of subtweets. I’m not a saint. I’m still bitter. I still remember. But I’ll shut it out, cut them off and move on, because I deserve better than their BS. I want to be happy at work.
