Any blind devs out there who use a screen reader in vs code?
Are there any things we can add to our codebase to help with things that aren't super easy for a reader?
Like large comment blocks that are formatted in weird ways.
I'm thinking like, aria labels for code -_-
I never imagined so much of my work would be pushing back against pedagogically bankrupt “solutions” like plagiarism detection software and remote proctoring. It should be obvious that these are ineffective and that faculty development plus student support is a better investment.
The Illinois Public Higher Education Cooperative (IPHEC) has just granted an award to Proctorio & Ouriginal for Online Proctoring & Anti-Plagiarism Software. An initial cost of $22,000,000 for 5 years and a $25,000,000 renewal EACH.
Yes, That's Millions.

@AmeliaMN@kara_woo Short answer, yes! There will be a cool new web-based app that will allow people to hang out together in 1:1s and/or groups. Curtis will share more details next week.
I’m so pumped for rstudio::global! If you’re not registered yet, there’s still time, just click the link. It will be subtitled in several languages, run 24 hours a day to avoid time zone issues, and it’s free!
rstudio::global() es una conferencia virtual de 24 horas que se realizará el 21 de enero. Queremos aprovechar al máximo el formato en línea, por lo que todas las charlas estarán subtituladas en español. Regístrate en global.rstudio.com/student/a…
also, R fam, where are we hanging out for this? Is there some central spot, like a Slack? Will we all be on different slacks? Chatting on twitter? Is there an app? I need my R friends social fix!
